Regional and national aspects of the state of the network of literary museums in Russia

The results of the author’s work of this research on a block of articles about the regions and
a summary article about the network of literary museums in Russia for the encyclopedia
“Literary Museums of Russia” are considered. The process of preparing this publication has
been conducted since 2014 by the Vladimir Dahl State Museum of the History of Russian
Literature in collaboration with the Association of Literary Museums and with the support
of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. As a result, two volumes of the encyclopedia
were published in 2022 and 2024. The publication is devoted to literary museums,
one of the most important for profile groups in Russia. The main blocks of articles, the
structure of articles about the regions are described, and the information contained in them
is indicated. The need to distinguish between literary museums and objects that partially
perform museum functions, such as museum-type institutions was noted. The concept of
the article about the network of literary museums in Russia is described, statistical data on
their number in the constituent entities of the country where there is a network of museums
of this profile group, taking into account all possible forms of owner (state, municipal,
departmental, public, private) is represented in the context of time perspective (2016, 2022,
2023). The obtained results are compared, the most developed regional are identified, the
factors influencing the increase or decrease of the presented indicators areidentified. The
general collection of museums of this profile group in the Russian Federation in all variety
of their types and kinds is shown. The regions where are museums of national literature,
national writers, and thehistory of Russian literature are designated. Possible use of the
obtained data is proposed.
